Even before the corona pandemic left us, another adversary has also arrived in our country. Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by the virus, which leads to rashes and fever-like symptoms. In 1958, symptoms of a disease such as pox erupted in groups of monkeys used for research and it became monkeypox. It also reaches humans through human interactions with infected mice. But sometimes it can also be transmitted through skin contact with an infected person. There are two known classes of monkeypox, one originating in Central Africa and the other originating in West Africa. Currently, it is the low-intensity West African monkeypox that has now erupted in the world.

 Monkeypox is rare, but the number of cases is increasing in Africa and in regions where these infections have not been seen before. Like the coronavirus, quarantine has been made mandatory for them. For decades, monkeypox has been mostly found in Africa. However, it is often found in other countries, including the United States. The first outbreak of monkeypox outside Of Africa occurred in the United States. Infected animals were transported from Ghana to Texas and infected mice spread the virus to a pet, a prairie dog, and infected 47v people in the Middle East. As international travel becomes more common, viruses that were once confined to certain locations are now beginning to spread around the world. Anyone can get infected with monkeypox, and in Africa, it is most commonly seen in children under the age of 15.

 Let’s take a look at what are the symptoms of monkeypox, which may take several days to a few weeks for the symptoms to become known before the symptoms develop after contact. The early symptoms of monkeypox are known as flu-like symptoms. Its main symptoms include fever, shivering, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, and dissection of the lymph nodes. After a few days, a rash is often experienced and the rash begins as flat and red lumps. This can be painful, and then those tumours turn into bubbles and they ripen and the bubbles burst. These entire processes are likely to last for a couple to four weeks.

Not everyone with monkeypox may have all the symptoms. Since monkeypox is rare, the health care provider may at first suspect that it is other rashes such as measles or chickenpox. But swollen lymph nodes generally distinguish monkeypox from other poxes. Most people suffering from monkeypox recover on their own without treatment. After diagnosis, the health care provider should monitor the condition and provide antibiotics to treat secondary bacterial infections to avoid symptoms and prevent dehydration. There is currently no approved antiviral treatment for monkeypox. But antiviral drugs may help them.
